FBC Leadership

Elders

Mike Phay

Mike Phay was transplanted into the fertile Central Oregon soil prior to his first birthday. In the 2nd grade, he met his future bride, Keri, and promptly fell in love. They got married about 15 years later and hit the road for a 10-year adventure before returning to Prineville in 2007, and being called to the Lead role at FBC in 2017. Pastoral ministry, along with raising 5 kids (Emma, Caleb, Halle, Maggie, and Daisy), takes up the majority of his time and energy. However, Mike loves coffee dates with Keri, wrestling matches with his little girls, deep talks with his big kids, reading, writing, learning anything, tending bees, and riding his bike.

Michael KNower

A longtime resident of Prineville, Dr. Michael “Doc” Knower has been attending FBC Prineville for 30 years with his wife Kathryn; their three daughters Elizabeth, Rachel, and Joanna; and their son Daniel. Dr. Knower is now a retired physician.  Elizabeth, Rachel, Joanna, and Daniel grew up attending FBC but now reside in Eagle Mountain, UT, Spokane, WA, southern OR, and Eugene, OR, respectively. In his spare time, Dr. Knower is likely to be found hanging out at Golden Coffee Co.

Tom Hall

Originally from Aloha, Oregon, Tom came to FBC when he moved to Prineville with his wife Eileen and their three children (Nick, Joseph, and Tessa) in 2000. Tom has faithfully served and ministered at FBC in many capacities, and continues to do so as one of our Elders. He has spent 25+ years in the ministry and has done everything from preaching to leading Bible studies, to leading the youth ministry. In his professional life, Tom worked in auto body repair, food service, and spent many years doing outdoor adventure ministry; taking groups hiking, biking, rock climbing, rafting, and sharing the Gospel with them. In his spare time, Tom enjoys reading, watching movies, outdoor adventures, and customizing cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

Joe Stenkamp

Joe Stenkamp was born in Redmond and grew up in Bend, moving away at the age of 12. He served a 22-year career as an officer in the US Army and a second career working in several defense-related companies. After his second retirement in 2017, he and his wife Sharon decided to move back to Central Oregon. Since coming to FBC, they have been involved in several ministries, most notably the Food Pantry, the Safety Team, and Home Community Groups. They have 5 children and 5 grandchildren, spread from Vancouver, WA to the island of St Kitts. Most evenings they can be found out on their deck, looking for meteors and listening for coyotes.
