Mike phay

Lead Pastor

Mike Phay was transplanted into the fertile Central Oregon soil prior to his first birthday. In the 2nd grade, he met his future bride, Keri, and promptly fell in love. They got married about 15 years later and hit the road for a 10-year adventure before returning to Prineville in 2007, and being called to the Lead role at FBC in 2017. Pastoral ministry, along with raising 5 kids (Emma, Caleb, Halle, Maggie, and Daisy), takes up the majority of his time and energy. However, Mike loves coffee dates with Keri, wrestling matches with his little girls, deep talks with his big kids, reading, writing, learning anything, tending bees, and riding his bike.

Melissa Barker

Music & Arts Director

In 2011, Melissa moved to Prineville with her husband Joe and their two sons, Birch and Riddley, to open a restaurant and brewery. They got involved at FBC where they immediately felt surrounded by community. They began serving in the music ministry, and a couple years later, Melissa was hired as the Music and Arts Director. One of Melissa’s favorite things about her job is seeing people use their individual, God-given, creative giftings to bring honor to God. In her spare time (which there doesn't ever seem to be quite enough of) Melissa enjoys reading, dancing, traveling, making music with friends, and spending time with her family.

Jenny Brooks

Children's Ministry Director

Jenny and her husband Ernie moved to Prineville in 2001 when Ernie got a job teaching Physical Education at Crook County Middle School and coaching at Crook County High School. Prineville has been home to them ever since, and they have loved and been loved well by this community. In the fall of 2013 Jenny became the office administrator at FBC, and in 2018 she took on the role of Children’s Ministry Director, and she's loving every minute of it! When she's not working at the church, Jenny loves serving our community and spending time with her husband and their two daughters, Grace and Lucy.

Marc Gattey

Director of Operations

Hailing from Santa Cruz, CA, Marc—along with his wife Maria and their two daughters—is a mainstay of FBC Prineville. With a background in electronics, having experience as staff for multiple camps and youth-related organizations, as well as serving on our Deacon Team, Marc is an irreplaceable member of our church family. And we just couldn't do without his sense of humor! In his spare time, Marc enjoys biking, getting pruny in his spa, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Alicia Myers

Women's Ministry Director

Alicia was born and raised in the beautiful fields of Indiana. She has always had a heart for service and ministry, serving in many different capacities over the years. Her heart for ministry led her to study at Appalachian Bible College, where she studied Theology and Camping Ministry. Alicia has been living in Prineville and attending FBC since 2015 and is excited to now serve the women of this church body. Alicia can be found adventuring in the great outdoors, reading a good book, doing a puzzle or spending time with people.

Ethan  Shafe

Office Administrator

Ethan was born in McMinnville, Oregon, but spent most of his growing-up years in Senegal, where his parents were stationed as missionaries. He most recently worked for L'Abri Fellowship in southern England, before committing to the church and the role of Office Manager here at the start of 2022. He currently also works part-time as a delivery driver for Prineville Domino's. When not at work, Ethan enjoys growing vegetables, reading, knitting, and playing board games with his parents.
